Luis Farias Martinez graduated in Physics from the ITESM, PhD from the University of London and was a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow at the University of MacMaster. He was manager of HYLSA Technology Planning and currently serves as Senior Vice President of Energy at Energy Cementos Mexicanos (CEMEX).

Dr. Farias has also participated in the development of tire gasification process, and is co-inventor of and holds a patent on a method for recovering energy from combustion in industrial waste furnaces. He has authored numerous articles in professional journals
